The Australian Association of Family Therapy Inc (AAFT) is a voluntary nonprofit organisation promoting the practice of Family and Systemic Therapy in Australia. It was established in 2012 as an amalgamation of State and Territory Associations, some of which had been continuously operating since 1979. Family Therapy Associations had existed in all Australian states since 1979 (see the history of each state association) and a separate body had been responsible for the publication of the Australia and New Zealand Journal of Family Therapy (ANZJFT) from 1980.
